About Jeff Tarbell
Welcome to my website!
Thank you for taking a moment to look into jefftarbell.com. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss your mortgage needs or maybe you are just checking into my background as host of Talkin Money? Either way, welcome.
My background in real estate started as a youth. I was born and raised in Northern California, grew up in Carmichael and graduated from CSU-Sacramento as a finance/real estate major and met my future wife too. I started around real estate at age 8 following my dad around building homes and small land developments. Ultimately, I joined him in business at age 22.
In 1992, I entered the mortgage field and by December 1993, I started my own company, ATM Mortgage, at the age of 25. Interest rates were 10% that year and we were in the midst of a slow economy. That was a very difficult time to start a business. Eventually we grew to five local offices with about 35 agents. In March 1999, the Sacramento Business Journal included me in their “40 under 40” up and coming business people to watch.
In 2007, I merged ATM Mortgage in with Comstock Mortgage and we became one of the largest privately owned mortgage banking firms in Northern CA. with 130 staff.
In 2004, I began a very interesting and fun journey/hobby as the host of “talkin money” on CBS radio Sports 1140am. After 8 years of waking up every Saturday for a 9am show, I still enjoy the challenge and rewarding experience of hosting a weekly show.
Enough about work. I have been happily married since 1992 to my wife Kim and we have 3 daughters all in or entering High School next year. When possible, we like to sneak out and hit the slopes for some snow skiing or take our boat out to the lake in the summer. All 3 of my daughters are accomplished, competitive dancers and great kids.
I hope to hear your story too!
—Jeff
